Hey! My name is Ruby and I am a twenty-two-year-old Soprano currently in my third year of training at the Royal Northern College of Music with renowned coloratura soprano Sandra Dugdale. I am privileged to have a wealth of performing experience and have taken part in concerts both in a choir and as a soloist, alongside numerous appearances in musical theatre.
Despite my young years, I have performed the soprano solo in Vivaldi’s Gloria for the European Union Chamber Orchestra and as a guest artist for BBC Radio Leeds on their Christmas broadcast. I have also performed in masterclasses for singers such as Sir Thomas Allen, Susan Bullock and Linda Richardson. During my first year of college, I auditioned successfully for the RNCM Chamber Choir and have since performed in numerous concerts with them.
In October 2018 I was selected by the RNCM to represent them at the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary for Young Singers where I competed against singers from colleges all around the country.
In addition to this I made my RNCM opera debut in March 2019 in Vaughan Williams’ The Pilgrims Progress. Most recently, I won the Durrant French Song Prize at the 2020 David Clover Festival of Singing in Sheffield. I am also a member of vocal sextet CastorVoices and the RNCM Songsters, a pool of the college’s most accomplished singers in the song repertoire. I am currently the recipient of the 2020 Pendle Young Musicians Bursary, an award for outstanding young musicians from the north of England.
In my spare time, I love going home to my beloved home county of Yorkshire, going on long walks and cooking lots of delicious food!
